Our Christmas Concert of traditional and modern carols will be on Wednesday 16 December 09 at 7.30pm at St Edward's Church, Royal George Road, Burgess Hill. It will include seasonal readings and congregational carols.
The Noel Singers is a Burgess Hill choir, founded in 1989 to sing at residential homes, charities etc, in the Mid-Sussex area and have since sung at well over 200 venues of this kind.
We have also sung at 16 different cathedrals in England and Germany, giving lunch-time concerts, and also singing choral evensong when the cathedral choir is on holiday.
We enjoy singing at weddings and sometimes augment a church choir on special occasions. Our repertoire is wide-ranging, including secular, as well as sacred music, in many different styles.

The Noel Singers rehearsing
Would you consider joining The Noel Singers?
Currently the choir has twenty members, with voices in all parts. We are a very friendly choir who enjoy one another’s company at a social level, as well as sharing a love of singing.
Our musical abilities vary; some are good sight-readers but many take longer to pick things up.
If you can sing in tune and can read music, even at a basic level, you will be very welcome.
If you were interested, you would be invited to come along to a few rehearsals to try us out.
We rehearse at St John’s Church Hall in Burgess Hill on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 pm until 9.30 pm
Repertoire
All music will be provided from the choir’s library. As well as sheet music, books used regularly are: The New Church Anthem Book (100 anthems compiled and edited by Lionel Dakers)
European Sacred Music (54 choral classics by a variety of European composers, edited by John Rutter)
In the Mood (choral arrangements of classic popular songs, edited by David Blackwell and Andrew Carter)
Encores for Choirs (arrangements of short, light pieces, sometimes humorous or quirky)
Wendy Sawyers (Conductor)
Wendy obtained her degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she also studied singing with Arthur Reckless.
After a post-graduate course at London University she taught in primary schools and as a private piano and singing teacher. For nearly thirty years she was the Musical Director of the Martlet Singers, a small group based in Haywards Heath, where she is also the Choir Leader at the local Methodist Church. She has been conducting the Noel Singers since February 1998.
Judith Miller (Accompanist)
Judith graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1961 having been awarded the Licentiate Diploma and the Academy’s Certificate of Merit for Piano. From 1983 she studied the organ with Doris Frank and then Malcolm McKelvey, Director of Music at Christ’s Hospital.
She was admitted as an Associate Member of the Royal College of Organists in 1988. Judith has a busy career both as a teacher and accompanist in Sussex.
